“Alvalade has become a fortress: Sporting is experiencing a historic home streak, and only Jorge Jesus has done better.”

Partilhar

The Sporting has turned Alvalade into a true fortress. Game after game, the lions command respect, crush opponents, and build statistics that place the current team among the most dominant in recent years at their stadium. In the Primeira Liga, the consistency is such that, looking back at recent history, only the Sporting team of Jorge Jesus in 2017/2018 has recorded better results.

The clear victory against Rio Ave (4-0) in the 16th round was not just another three points. It was the confirmation of a trend: Alvalade is now an almost impregnable fortress.

Four consecutive home wins and an elite defense

With the triumph against Rio Ave, Sporting achieved its fourth consecutive victory at Alvalade in the Primeira Liga, consolidating the best home streak of the season.

But it is in defensive consistency that the numbers are truly impressive. In eight home games, only two teams have managed to score against the lions — and, tellingly, Sporting did not win any of those matches.

  • FC Porto won at Alvalade 2-1, in the only defeat for the lions in the competition
  • SC Braga drew 1-1, scoring from the penalty spot

Result? Only three goals conceded in eight home games.

A record only surpassed by Jorge Jesus’ Sporting

The current defensive performance places this team in a rare category. In recent years, only the Sporting led by Jorge Jesus in the 2017/2018 season has done better, completing eight consecutive games without conceding goals at Alvalade.

The comparison is not trivial. It is historic. And it underscores the significance of the moment that Sporting is experiencing in their stadium.

Goal blitz: Alvalade as a stage of massacre

If the defense is impressive, the attack is frightening. In the six games in which they did not concede goals, Sporting scored heavily in five. The exception was Alverca, which left Alvalade “only” with a 2-0 defeat.

Aside from that, what was seen was offensive football, maximum intensity, and overwhelming results:

  • Arouca – 6-0
  • Moreirense – 3-0
  • Estrela da Amadora – 4-0
  • AVS Futebol SAD – 6-0
  • Rio Ave – 4-0

Numbers that explain the strength

The final data leaves no room for doubt:

  • 27 goals scored in eight home games
  • Average of 3.38 goals per game
  • Only three goals conceded
  • Just one defeat at Alvalade

Under the leadership of Rui Borges, Sporting has built a clear identity: intensity, defensive security, and the ability to decide games early — especially in front of their supporters.

Alvalade commands, the championship trembles

Alvalade is not just a stadium. It is, at this moment, a decisive competitive factor. Those who enter know that any distraction is punished, that any mistake turns into a goal, and that leaving unscathed is already a victory.

With these numbers, Sporting not only defends the title: it instills fear. And when recent history finds only a parallel in the Jorge Jesus era, something very serious is happening at Alvalade.
