Harry Kane is three victories away from making history in world football, and not just for his on-field performances. The captain of the England national team scored again from the penalty spot against Mexico, in a match where Jude Bellingham shone by scoring twice in the 3-2 victory at the iconic Estadio Azteca — a result that promises to remain in the memories of English fans.
Kane, despite trailing behind Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot at the 2026 World Cup, remains hopeful of winning that individual trophy and, more importantly, lifting the collective trophy at the end of the tournament. The path to glory will not be easy: he will first face Norway's Erling Haaland and, if victorious, likely Argentina's Messi in the semi-finals, ensuring high-level clashes and the potential elimination of some of the biggest stars in world football.
The World Cup is experienced with LEGO.
Although he has never sought the limelight, Harry Kane has become one of the most recognized figures in football due to his goal-scoring ability and leadership on the pitch. Off the field, he maintains a low profile in his business partnerships, with relatively private agreements with brands such as Skechers, sustainable clothing company Reflo, and the German oatmeal company 3Bears, adding to his salary at Bayern Munich, estimated at around £21 million.
However, according to Professor Rob Wilson, a sports business expert and lecturer at UCFB, the impact of a potential World Cup victory for Kane could be overwhelming in financial terms. In statements to the financial support platform Vettory, Wilson emphasizes: “Kane is already one of the biggest commercial names in football, but a World Cup win would elevate him to another level. Tournaments of this magnitude significantly boost an athlete's value to brands, not only because of individual achievements but also because of the historic moment they represent.”
Wilson further detailed that “if England wins with Harry as captain and a potential Golden Boot winner, I expect the annual value of his sponsorships to grow by about 30%, which would translate to an increase of £10 million per year in commercial value, maintaining that increase over the next three or four years.” He added that “the most relevant factor is the change in the quality of opportunities: he could become a priority target for global brands looking for ambassadors.” Wilson also predicts that “this commercial growth, over the remainder of his career, could reach around £50 million. If he stays at Bayern Munich, he will aim for £40-50 million, but if he moves to another club, such as Manchester United, he could double that amount, reaching £100 million or more.”
Moreover, Wilson anticipates a domino effect: “We know that victories create interest from brands that were previously hesitant. It will also motivate current sponsors to extend their contracts. I hope Kane adds several new international deals if England lifts the trophy.”
With the world watching, Harry Kane may be about to transform not only his sporting career but also his financial portfolio, if he fulfills the dream of leading England to victory in the World Cup.
