Monaco considers parting ways with Pogba after a quiet season and only 115 minutes played.

Paul Pogba may be leaving Monaco after a season marked by just 115 minutes on the pitch and six appearances, despite the high expectations surrounding his arrival last summer. The club's general director, Thiago Scuro, made it clear that the future of the 33-year-old French midfielder is far from guaranteed and that a decision regarding his continuation will be made during pre-season, depending on the assessment of the new coach, Filipe Luís.

With only one year left on his contract, Pogba faces a rigorous evaluation at a time when Monaco is under tight financial control imposed by the DNCG, the body responsible for the economic management of clubs in France. This situation has forced the club's SAD to adopt a policy of restraint, which may lead to the departure of players with high salaries and limited playing time, such as the French international, whose career has been on hold due to a long absence from top-level competition.

Thiago Scuro explained on Wednesday, at a press conference, the reasons that may lead to the departure of the former world champion. “It’s a very complicated issue,” the official began. “We have a lot of respect for the person, first and foremost. When he arrived here, it was very positive, he helped the young players. But the truth is that the project [with him] did not go well last season. When we started it, the expectations we had were very different,” he admitted, acknowledging that the investment in the midfielder did not bring the desired results.

The head of Monaco has assured that Paul Pogba's performance will be analyzed week by week, allowing the player to prove his worth during pre-season preparations. “I believe it is necessary to be fair to him now: to observe his preparation each week, to see how he progresses physically and technically. And then it will be a decision for the coach, whether Filipe Luís will give him playing time or not,” emphasized Thiago Scuro, reinforcing that the final decision will rest with the new manager.

When asked about a possible transfer, Scuro was unequivocal: “Is he likely to leave? Yes, of course. With Paul, the relationship has always been open and transparent. If, at some point, the goals of the player and the club diverge, it is necessary to find a solution. Performance will provide all the answers we need. Maybe he will leave, maybe he will stay…” acknowledged the club's general director.

The instability in the squad is not limited to Pogba. Eric Dier, another high-profile signing from last season, may also be on his way out. The 32-year-old England international, under contract until 2028, has not convinced due to various muscle injuries and performances below expectations. “Yes, it is also a topic. We have already spoken with him and his agents. The idea is to always find the best solutions for Monaco. When we need to reduce the wage bill, players with the highest contracts become a topic of discussion,” concluded Scuro.

The futures of Pogba and Dier are expected to be decided over the summer, with Monaco focused on adjusting the squad and balancing the accounts, preparing for a new era under the management of Filipe Luís.
