Manchester United surprised fans by securing two major signings on the same day, with both players passing their medical examinations and officially joining Old Trafford. The English club is ramping up its activity in the transfer market, sealing multi-million-pound deals and ensuring immediate solutions for the squad.

The first major highlight is Andrey Santos, a 22-year-old midfielder, whose transfer from Chelsea was agreed for £50 million (£48 million plus £2 million in add-ons). After receiving clearance to undergo medical examinations on Thursday, Santos successfully completed this stage and saw the clubs sign all necessary documentation to formalize the deal. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on X: “Andrey Santos has just successfully completed the medical examination as a new Manchester United player. The clubs have signed all the documents for the £50 million package. Andrey will sign tomorrow, Friday, a contract until June 2031 with an option for another season at #MUFC.” Thus, one of the summer's most significant signings is completed, with Santos committing to five seasons, plus one optional.

At the same time, the Red Devils also completed the signing of Karl Darlow, a 35-year-old goalkeeper who arrives on a free transfer after his contract with Leeds United expired last month. The Elland Road team attempted to renew the contract with the experienced goalkeeper, presenting an offer to retain him, but Darlow chose to head to Manchester. The deal was also confirmed by Romano, who stamped the transfer with his characteristic “here we go.” Darlow was identified as the ideal replacement to add depth to the goalkeeping position, at a time when Andre Onana has been loaned out again to Trabzonspor and Altay Bayindir is on his way out, leaving Senne Lammens as the main option.

Meanwhile, the process involving Ederson, a midfielder from Atalanta, is still ongoing, with a verbal agreement of €45 million sealed about six weeks ago. Ederson has already passed the first phase of medical examinations while he was in the United States with Brazil at the World Cup, but Manchester United is conducting a second round of tests in England before deciding to finalize or cancel the transfer, depending on the results.

With these two signings, Manchester United is showing ambition to immediately strengthen key areas of the squad, betting on youth and experience to pursue the goals for the upcoming season. The official confirmation of Andrey Santos is expected on Friday, while Darlow arrives to provide assurances in goal. The next few hours promise to be decisive for the outcome of the Ederson case, which may also bring more news for Red Devils fans.
