During this preparation period, Zverev had the opportunity to train under the guidance of Toni Nadal and Rafael Nadal himself, which he considers a significant advantage. In statements shared through the academy's social media, Zverev said: “I am here [at Rafael Nadal's academy] to prepare for this, and I hope to show my best there as well.” The tennis player expressed his appreciation for Mallorca, describing it as a “fantastic island” for summer training.

Zverev, who has already won the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters, is eager to replicate his success. He emphasized the importance of this year, stating: “The year is not over yet, and we are heading into the North American season, with two Masters and a Grand Slam coming up.” After the two Masters 1000 events, Zverev will aim to win his first title at the US Open, a tournament where he was a finalist in 2020 but was defeated by Dominic Thiem.

In the same vein, Zverev commented on his competitive relationship with Carlos Alcaraz, stating that he prefers playing against the young Spaniard rather than against Sinner, who has defeated him in their last ten matches. Zverev said, “I have a lot of fun playing against Alcaraz. Sometimes I lose, sometimes I win, but the matches with him are always incredible.” Despite being at a disadvantage in their head-to-head record, Zverev acknowledges the quality of the encounters he has had with Alcaraz, including an epic battle that lasted over five hours earlier this year.

With Alcaraz preparing for the Cincinnati Masters after a break due to a wrist injury, Zverev is aware of the competitiveness that awaits him. Alcaraz, the reigning US Open champion, will enter the tournament defending his title, while Zverev aims to solidify his place among the best in the world.
