Bruno Fernandes could leave Manchester United as early as January, stirring up the European transfer market. The captain of the Old Trafford side is attracting interest from AC Milan and Atlético de Madrid, following a difficult situation with head coach Michael Carrick, whom he did not spare from criticism.
Fernandes’ future appears uncertain, especially after the falling-out with Carrick, which could hasten his departure. According to information from several sources, AC Milan, now under Ruben Amorim, are interested in a possible reunion with the player.
Atlético de Madrid are also considering signing the midfielder, which suggests the Portugal international could have several options in January.
Other moves in England and France
Meanwhile, other transfer rumours are gaining prominence. Chelsea are close to allowing winger Estêvão to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan in January, provided it does not include a permanent transfer clause. This means PSG would have to take on the player’s full wages and guarantee him playing time.
In addition, Bournemouth forward Rayan is considered an alternative for PSG, who are looking for a replacement for the injured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
As for Liverpool, the club are preparing to begin the process of signing centre-back Ronald Araújo, currently on loan, on a permanent basis, and will contact Barcelona as soon as the transfer window opens. Chelsea, for their part, have already agreed personal terms with midfielder Alex Scott, who is also on Liverpool’s radar.
Barcelona and Real Madrid on the move
In La Liga, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is determined to secure a big-name striker, with Harry Kane as the main target and Erling Haaland as an alternative. However, the price Stuttgart are demanding for defender Finn Jeltsch, set at €60m, could make an approach difficult for both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid board members are encouraging president Florentino Pérez to accept offers of €150m for Vinícius Júnior, a player who has been under pressure and may be heading for a new stage in his career.
The January transfer picture is therefore full of moves that could change the balance of power in the major European leagues.
