Jasmine Paolini has once again made history on the sacred grass of Wimbledon, securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the tournament after a hard-fought three-set victory against Alexandra Eala. After reaching the finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2024, the Italian reaffirms her place among the elite of world tennis and confirms her best form at the All England Club.
The match, played over two hours and 22 minutes, ended with set scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 6-3 in favor of Paolini, who faced a motivated opponent: Eala had just eliminated the defending champion, Iga Swiatek, and remained combative throughout. In the opening set, a deep response and an exceptional volley allowed the Italian to take a 2-1 lead. Eala then squandered a clear opportunity to get back into the match by failing to return a simple shot that hit the net. Nevertheless, the young Filipino managed to break Paolini's serve at 5-3, but succumbed to pressure in the next game, making a crucial error on set point.

In the second set, Paolini showed determination by recovering from 0-40 early on and managed to break back at 1-2, once again using the drop shot, a stroke that had previously caused her difficulties. However, at 3-4, Eala turned the tide and came back from 0-40, extending the match with an authoritative serve. In the decisive set, both players were impeccable on serve, but it was Paolini who capitalized on one of Eala's few openings, converting the crucial break at 4-3, following an unforced error with the drop shot from the Filipino player. In the final game, the Italian overcame a 0-30 deficit and sealed the victory.
For Paolini, this marks only her third appearance in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament in her career, solidifying the confidence she has been regaining match after match at Wimbledon. At the end of the match, it was confirmed that her next opponent will be Marta Kostyuk, who secured her spot by defeating Ashlyn Krueger with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The Italian now emerges as one of the main contenders for a place in the semi-finals, having demonstrated not only solidity in crucial moments but also great mental and technical resilience. With this result, Jasmine Paolini reinforces her presence among the best in the world and keeps alive the hope of winning an unprecedented title at Wimbledon.
