American boxer Hannah Rapp, just 26 years old, lost her life in a tragic accident in Texas, leaving the boxing world in shock. The incident occurred while the athlete was riding her bicycle, and she was struck by a car that unexpectedly reversed after overtaking her.
According to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide. Hannah Rapp, originally from Indiana, had a promising career in professional boxing since 2024, balancing the sport with a full-time job as a fire safety inspector.
The boxer made a name for herself in the boxing world by competing for the WBC lightweight world title in June, in a closely contested fight against Tiara Brown in Orlando, which she ultimately lost. Her professional record stood at a total of eight wins, one loss, and one draw, showcasing her talent and determination in the ring.
Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, expressed his sorrow over the loss of the athlete in an emotional statement: “She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family.” This loss impacts not only the sport but also the community surrounding her.
Tiara Brown, Rapp's last opponent, fondly and respectfully remembered her colleague, sharing a curious moment before the fight. “She was the best dance partner I ever faced as a professional. She asked me for an autograph before the fight, which filled my heart,” Brown recounted. “We had a great fight. It was an honor to share the ring with her.”
Promoter Most Valuable Promotions also reacted, highlighting the mark left by the boxer: “Hannah made a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She was a talented athlete, a valuable member of the boxing community, and someone deeply respected by those around her.
