A living legend of American football, Tom Brady, set fans abuzz by hinting that he may not have thrown his last pass in a meaningful game. The icon, who retired in 2022 only to return and lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in one final season, recently appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where his statements left the door open for a possible return to the field, though not in the way many might imagine.

When asked about the possibility of representing the United States in flag football at the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles, Brady did not hesitate to say that he would “never say never.” However, the star also remained realistic: “It’s probably unlikely, just so you know,” he commented, suggesting that his playing days may have come to an end.

At 49 years old, which he will turn in August, Brady still maintains a level of performance that has led him to be considered one of the best, even in his 40s. During the chat on “GMA,” he mentioned that he believes his time on the field is over, but he is more than willing to contribute in other ways. “I think for those young players, it’s good for them to do that. If I ever want to come in as a mentor, as a coach, something like that, that’s probably more suited for me,” said Brady, making it clear that he is ready to pass the torch to talents like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, whom he believes have the potential to win a gold medal for the U.S.

In addition to his role as one of the lead analysts for Fox during NFL seasons, Brady has proven to be an active participant behind the scenes, acting as a “de facto” head in football-related matters for the Las Vegas Raiders, where he is a minority owner. “I love my job at Fox,” he stated. “I love doing my broadcast — a big commitment to that. I love the NFL. I love the Raiders. I enjoy working on that and on different projects I have. So, I have a lot going on.”

While it may be tempting to imagine Brady on the field once again, it seems that the seven-time Super Bowl champion is truly closing the door on that phase of his life. Fans can continue to dream, but it is clear that Brady is focused on new adventures off the field, as young talents take center stage in the world of American football.
