Real Madrid continues to demonstrate its strength in the Champions League, securing its place in the round of 16 after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Benfica, resulting in an aggregate score of 3-1. However, the focus of the media and fans is now on the situation of Kylian Mbappe, who missed the match due to a last-minute injury. Coach Álvaro Arbeloa addressed this issue and other details of the match in impactful statements.

Arbeloa began by describing the difficulties faced by his team in the early minutes of the match, but emphasized that the team managed to adjust and improve throughout the game. “In any match, you’re not going to have everything easy. You’re going to suffer; it’s the best competition in Europe. They pressured us; it was difficult for us to get out, there was space behind and we didn’t take advantage of it. Until we corrected that a bit after the break, that’s when we improved. We went from strength to strength,” the coach stated.

One of the highlights of the match was the goal by Aurelien Tchouameni, which Arbeloa emphasized as crucial. “Tchouameni’s goal was very important. We’ve talked a lot about it in recent days; he is at a spectacular level. If he can keep this up, he will score many goals. This is just the first of many he will score, I hope,” said Arbeloa, expressing confidence in the young player.

Additionally, the coach did not hold back in praising Vinicius Junior, who once again stood out. “He had a great game, very unbalanced, scoring goals and creating danger. He has many MVPs at home, so it’s good for Tchouameni to receive this recognition – he does the dirty work that usually goes unnoticed. When Mbappe was here, we already needed him, and now that he’s not, we need him even more. He should be our leader and our reference. We have seen that he can make a difference,” Arbeloa declared, emphasizing Vinicius’s importance to the team.

The match, however, was not without concerns, especially with the departure of Raul Asencio in the second half after suffering a blow to the head. Arbeloa provided an update on the defender’s situation, stating that he was taken to the hospital, but he does not believe the situation is serious. “It seems like it was something with his neck; it doesn’t seem serious. He went to the hospital; we hope it’s just a scare. The blow was tremendous; our stomachs shrank. But it seems like it won’t be anything.”

The situation of Kylian Mbappé, one of the team’s stars, has generated intense speculation. Arbeloa explained the condition of the forward, who could not be included in the squad for the match against Benfica. “I can’t differentiate between discomfort and injury. The best thing was to stop and recover. He can’t play. We hope he returns in a few days or weeks,” Arbeloa concluded, leaving fans hoping for good news about the Frenchman’s return.

The saga of Real Madrid continues, and fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapters, especially with the anticipation surrounding Mbappé and his future performances on the field.
