Arda Guler signs new Real Madrid contract, ending Man City and Arsenal interest

Real Madrid has secured one of its brightest young talents, Arda Guler, with a new contract that decisively ends transfer speculation linking him to Manchester City and Arsenal. The 21-year-old midfielder, who has been gradually carving out a key role under José Mourinho, has committed his future to the Spanish giants until 2031.

Guler, a diminutive but highly creative playmaker, faced uncertainty following Mourinho’s return to the Bernabeu, with doubts over whether his style would fit the new coach’s system. This uncertainty sparked interest from Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester City, both keen to lure the promising Turkish international away from Madrid. However, Real Madrid’s swift action has closed the door on any potential summer moves.

The young Turk’s recent cameo performance against Roma, where he provided two crucial assists to spark a comeback from 3-1 down, has only reinforced his rising stock within the squad. Mourinho now views Guler as a vital option off the bench, and the club’s president, Florentino Pérez, regards him as a “major favourite,” signalling strong backing at the highest level.

This contract extension underlines Real Madrid’s belief that this season will see Guler firmly establish himself as a regular presence in the first team. Rather than drift away amid transfer rumors, the midfielder is set to become an integral part of Madrid’s ambitions, showcasing his talent on one of football’s biggest stages for years to come.
