Aston Villa remain in direct talks to sign Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson

Aston Villa remain deeply engaged in negotiations to secure the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Premier League club is pursuing the Senegal international striker as manager Unai Emery aims to inject fresh dynamism and versatility into his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Plettenberg revealed on X that Aston Villa are “still in direct talks with both Nicolas Jackson’s camp and Chelsea to find a solution for a permanent transfer or a loan.” Despite ongoing discussions, no definitive agreement has yet been reached between the parties involved. Villa are reportedly open to either a permanent deal or an initial loan with an option or obligation to buy, highlighting their strong intent to add Jackson’s firepower to their squad before the transfer window closes.

Jackson’s potential exit from Stamford Bridge is closely linked to Chelsea’s own transfer strategies. With Blues head coach Xabi Alonso reportedly moving to sign experienced Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, Chelsea appear poised for a reshuffle in their attacking lineup. Should Welbeck join Joao Pedro in the frontline, Jackson’s opportunities for regular first-team action could diminish significantly.

Chelsea’s board is understood to be amenable to offloading the 25-year-old forward, provided a suitable proposal emerges. This stance opens a clear pathway for Aston Villa to finalize a deal and secure a high-caliber addition to Emery’s forward line. The West Midlands club’s persistent pursuit underscores their ambition to bolster their attacking arsenal with a player capable of delivering both goals and versatility.

As talks continue, Aston Villa’s determination to capture Jackson’s signature signals an aggressive approach to strengthening their squad. The outcome of these negotiations will be closely watched by Premier League followers, as it could have significant implications for both clubs’ attacking options in the forthcoming campaign.
