Manchester United prepares midfield revolution: Carlos Baleba on the verge of becoming the summer’s blockbuster signing

Manchester United is planning a true revolution in its midfield for the upcoming season, with the signing of up to three players being considered a priority. Among the names being discussed is Carlos Baleba, a young talent who could be the key piece in this ambitious rebuilding plan. Sources close to the club assure that the Brighton midfielder is the most likely target to arrive, in a process that promises to shake up the transfer market.

The imminent departure of Casemiro forces United to find suitable replacements, and Manuel Ugarte may also leave Old Trafford soon, which exacerbates the need for reinforcements. But the problem goes far beyond these two departures. Throughout the season, the club has struggled with a lack of solid options in the center of the pitch, a problem that was not resolved in the last transfer window and now urgently needs to be addressed.

Contrary to initial expectations, the management of the Red Devils is open to the possibility of signing not two, but three midfielders to strengthen the team, especially considering the return to the Champions League, which demands a deeper and more competitive squad.

Among the players who will remain is Bruno Fernandes, whose commitment to the club is expected to extend for at least one more season, as well as Mason Mount, who is unlikely to leave unless a surprising offer comes in. Young prospect Kobbie Mainoo is also expected to renew his contract soon.

But the standout player is Carlos Baleba. The midfielder, who has been on Manchester United’s radar since last summer, is seen as the ideal reinforcement due to his tactical ability and style of play. Despite a less stellar season, the management believes they can secure his signing for a much lower fee than the 100 million euros discussed a few months ago, an opportunity they do not want to miss.

Other names such as Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Adam Wharton continue to be monitored, but the competition to secure these talents promises to be fierce, which may complicate their arrival at Old Trafford. On the other hand, negotiations for Baleba are expected to be more straightforward and swift.

United’s plan is to secure at least two acquisitions from the Premier League, facilitating the players’ adaptation, while the third reinforcement may come from abroad, with Spain and Germany being priority markets for discovering emerging young talents.

Michael Carrick, former central midfielder and current strong candidate for the head coach position, could play a decisive role in this reconstruction, bringing his experience to address one of the team’s biggest gaps in recent years.

With qualification for the Champions League practically secured, discussions behind the scenes are intensifying to act quickly in the market and avoid a late unfolding of the transfer window. Manchester United is determined not to miss the opportunity to become competitive again at the top of European football, starting with the heart of the midfield. Carlos Baleba could be the first step towards that goal.
