In an exciting clash in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic overcame Aberdeen to secure second place, now just five points behind leaders Hearts. However, the victory did not come easily, as the hosts displayed surprising determination that kept the visitors under constant pressure throughout the match.

The spectacle began with Kieran Tierney opening the scoring for Celtic just five minutes in, following a well-executed corner. Irish defender Liam Scales and Tierney, both losing their markers, allowed the Scottish full-back to finish with a precise touch inside the six-yard box, giving the visitors an early advantage. However, Celtic’s joy was quickly overshadowed when Aberdeen responded vigorously.

The turning point came when Toyosi Olusanya was brought down in the box, resulting in a penalty converted by Kevin Nisbet, who scored his eighth goal of the season. The equalizer breathed new life into Aberdeen, who, under interim manager Peter Leven, fought to break a run of four games without a win. With 13 points behind Falkirk, hopes of a top-six finish now appear distant for the hosts.

Despite Aberdeen’s response, Celtic did not let their heads drop. Goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo had to work hard, making a spectacular save from a Nisbet header, but the visitors’ constant pressure finally paid off. Benjamin Nygren, who came on as a substitute, teamed up with James Forrest to create the decisive play. Nygren, with a precise touch, finished a cross from Forrest from 12 yards out, putting Celtic ahead once again.

The match unfolded in a frantic style, with both teams pressing for more goals. However, it was Celtic who managed to maintain their lead and secure a crucial victory that not only elevates them to second place but also strengthens their aspirations to retain the title. With an impressive streak of 34 games unbeaten against Aberdeen, Celtic continues to demonstrate their strength in the championship, while Aberdeen faces a challenging moment, urgently needing positive results to turn their situation around.
