The French national football team is experiencing the worst moment of its participation in the 2026 World Cup, with a performance being labeled as a “shame” by fans. Ahead of the third-place match against England this Saturday, coach Didier Deschamps admitted the difficulty in motivating his players for the clash, highlighting the disappointment of not being in the final.
Deschamps stated: “I read in the press that [English coach Thomas] Tuchel said that no one wants to play this game. Well, it is true that given the objective we had, we wanted to play in the final, but we continue to represent France, and it is the dream of many people to wear the jersey and sing the Marseillaise, so we must respect the shirt we wear.” Despite these words, Kylian Mbappé and the rest of the French squad were far from honoring the jersey, finding themselves trailing 4-0 at halftime.
