Galatasaray is setting a new standard in the football world by placing an impressive price tag of €150 million (£130 million) on their Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen. This figure is not just a defensive strategy against interest from other clubs, but rather a reflection of the incredible trajectory Osimhen has followed since joining the Turkish team. After a historic signing for €75 million, which made him the most expensive transfer in Turkish football history, Osimhen has proven to be an invaluable asset to the club.

Osimhen’s journey with Galatasaray has been nothing short of spectacular. The forward was instrumental in the recent elimination of Juventus in the Champions League, securing the club a place in the round of 16 for the first time in over ten years. With seven goals in the group stage of the European competition, he not only stood out as one of the top scorers but also as a key player, tallying an impressive 66 interventions in 65 matches since his arrival in Istanbul.

The Turkish club is clearly looking beyond the borders of the Süper Lig, aiming for a competitive position in the major European competitions. Rumors of interest from giants such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain have circulated, but the administration of Galatasaray, led by vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu, is determined to keep Osimhen as the cornerstone of their long-term project. “When we acquired him, many considered it a crazy investment. However, Victor has proven everyone wrong, as his value has doubled since his arrival,” Kavukcu stated, expressing confidence in the forward’s abilities.

Kavukcu did not hesitate to assert that Osimhen is “untouchable” for most clubs, revealing his firm belief that the Nigerian is one of the best forwards in the world. Galatasaray, which seeks not only to dominate national football but also to be a force to be reckoned with in Europe, sees Osimhen as a key piece in achieving great feats in the future.

The pressure for other clubs to stay away from Osimhen is, therefore, more than justified. His on-field value and importance to Galatasaray are undeniable, and his continued presence in the team could be the key for the Turkish club to leave its mark in the history of European football.
