Juventus is set to welcome Dusan Vlahovic back to the team, bringing a wave of optimism among the fans of the Vecchia Signora. After an extended period sidelined due to a serious injury, the Serbian forward is finally on the road to full recovery.
Vlahovic, who suffered a severe injury during a Serie A match against Cagliari at the end of November, underwent surgery in London in early December and has been working hard on his rehabilitation since then. Recently, the player began training on the pitch, although he has done so in isolation. However, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via JuventusNews24), Vlahovic is about to take a crucial step in his recovery, as he will gradually join group training this week. This is often considered the final step before full availability to compete.
The news is promising, as the expectation is that the 26-year-old striker could be available for selection as early as next Saturday when Juventus hosts Pisa at the Allianz Stadium. However, a more realistic option may be the away match against Udinese on March 14, which would give Vlahovic additional time to regain his athletic condition before being reintegrated into the team.
Dusan Vlahovic is a key player for coach Luciano Spalletti, who has identified him as his undisputed choice for the striker position since his arrival at the club in October. Spalletti made it clear that neither Jonathan David nor Lois Openda possess the necessary characteristics to fill Vlahovic’s role as the number 9, which led him to request that the club management sign a new forward in January, a request that was not fulfilled.
With only four months remaining on his contract, Vlahovic is preparing for what could be his last big season wearing the Juventus jersey. Despite this, rumors have emerged that the club and the player could reopen discussions regarding a contract renewal. However, for this to happen, the athlete and his entourage would have to accept a significant reduction in his current salary, which stands at 12 million euros net per year. Recently, Juventus established a new salary cap of 7 million euros, as demonstrated by the recent contract extension of Kenan Yildiz.
With the possibility of seeing Vlahovic back on the pitch, Juventus fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. His presence could be a decisive factor in the team’s title fight and a morale boost that everyone hopes to see reflected in the upcoming matches.
