The revolution at Old Trafford is in full swing, and under the interim leadership of Michael Carrick, Manchester United appears to have found a new lease of life. Since the abrupt departure of Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim in early January, the team has shown a dramatic improvement in performance. With an impressive winning streak that includes victories over giants such as Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, Carrick has leveraged his experience as a former player to earn the respect of both fans and players.

So far, Carrick has led his team to win five of six league matches, remaining unbeaten with a single draw against West Ham United. His team currently occupies fourth place in the Premier League, positioning themselves promisingly in the fight for a spot in next season’s Champions League. However, the looming question is: will Carrick be able to secure his position as head coach for next year?

To better understand the expectations of fans, the website The Peoples Person decided to survey its readers on what Carrick needs to do to secure the full-time position. The responses were revealing.

An impressive 56% of fans believe that the key for Carrick to earn the permanent role lies in qualifying for the Champions League. The team is well positioned to achieve this goal, especially now that it can focus solely on the league after being eliminated from both domestic cups.

On the other hand, 23% of respondents emphasize that, in addition to results, it is crucial to have a belief that Carrick is the right man to lead the club at this decisive moment. Despite his popularity among the players, there remains uncertainty as to whether his rise is a result of a “new impetus” following Amorim’s departure or if it represents a lasting change.

Furthermore, 10% of fans highlight that the way the team plays is also vital. The Manchester United has already made good impressions, especially in the clash against Manchester City, and even though the level of performance has fluctuated, the team still managed to score a spectacular counter-attack goal, reminiscent of the glorious times under Sir Alex Ferguson’s management.

However, not all fans are convinced that Carrick is the ideal solution. A small minority, only 7%, believes he should not be an option for the permanent position. This group of supporters seems to prefer a more high-profile name or a coach with more experience in the Premier League. On the other hand, 4% of supporters believe that for Carrick, merely securing a spot in any European competition would be enough to ensure his future at the club. With the top seven positions in the league promising such a possibility, this seems to be the minimum that Carrick must achieve this season.

As the pressure mounts, the question remains: will Michael Carrick be able to turn his interim role into a permanent position, or will Manchester United look for a new leader for the next season? The answer could shape the future of the club and the faith of its fans during these changing times.
