Michael Carrick, the current interim manager of Manchester United, is living a true fairy tale since taking on the role in December last year, replacing Ruben Amorim. With a start to life in the team that many would dream of, Carrick is determined to make his mark at the club, emerging as a strong candidate to become the permanent head of the team.

Since his arrival, Carrick has delivered a remarkable performance, guiding the team through five matches, securing four victories and just one draw. The style of play he has implemented, characterized by an offensive and aggressive approach, has been highly appreciated by fans, who are finally beginning to see the team rise in the Premier League standings, currently occupying fourth place and on track to secure a spot in the Champions League.

Several players, including prominent figures such as Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, and Matheus Cunha, have expressed their satisfaction in working under Carrick’s guidance. This atmosphere of optimism is bolstered by a report from The Peoples Person, which mentions that Carrick is one of the leading candidates for the permanent position and is currently seen as the favorite to secure the role.

In statements to the BBC, Carrick was asked about his willingness to remain in the position after the end of the season and, without hesitation, made his desire to continue clear. “It’s not a standard answer – for me, it’s the ultimate role. I’m really enjoying it, I feel privileged to be in the position I’m in, but it’s not just about believing I can do this – I’m here to do it,” Carrick stated.

He went on to explain his emotional connection to the club: “When I came in, there was a sentimental part of understanding the role and loving the club. But now I’m here to do a job and be successful.” When asked about his happiness in the role, Carrick replied with a smile: “Yes. I’m loving what I do. It’s a wonderful place to be every day.”

Carrick also revealed the moment he learned he would be the interim manager. “I was in the car on my way to Newcastle when I received the message. It was good news, but I kept calm. I just called my wife to share what had happened,” he said. As he prepared to take the reins, Carrick focused on assembling a balanced and efficient coaching staff.

His player-centered approach is evident, with Carrick emphasizing the importance of getting the best out of each athlete. One player who has shone under his management is Kobbie Mainoo, who was sidelined under the previous manager but is now a key figure in the lineup, standing out in every game. Carrick praised Mainoo as a “great talent” and stressed the importance of allowing him to rediscover his rhythm.

“I’ve known Kobbie for a long time, since he was about 13 or 14 years old. What he has been doing at such a young age is really incredible. We’re just letting him find his flow again,” Carrick said, acknowledging the pressure young players face.

The Manchester United is already preparing for its next challenge, with a match against Everton scheduled for Monday at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Expectations are high to see how Carrick will continue to shape the team and his own career as a potential permanent manager. Carrick’s story at the United is just beginning, but signs indicate that he is destined to leave an indelible mark on the club.
