This Sunday, the São Paulo classic between Santos and Corinthians ended in a 1-1 draw, in a match marked by intense plays and a performance below expectations from Neymar. The clash, held at the historic Vila Belmiro Stadium and corresponding to the sixth round of the Brasileirão, had its intensity concentrated in the first half, where both clubs exchanged goals that reflected the competitiveness of the derby.

The match had a frantic start, with Santos showing more aggression in the offensive zone, but it was Corinthians that opened the scoring. In the 17th minute, Memphis Depay, in a counter-attack play, showcased his skill by evading a defender and finishing with class, putting the visitors ahead. However, the joy of the Corinthians fans was short-lived. A mistake by Gabriel Paulista while trying to play the ball out allowed Gabigol to regain possession and, in open space, advance and finish successfully, quickly equalizing the match.

Despite the electrifying start, the game eventually slowed down, resulting in few goal opportunities in the following stages. Tension increased in the final stretch, especially after Luan Peres was sent off, receiving two yellow cards within minutes. The situation became even more complicated for Santos when Vinicius Lira left the field injured, forcing the team to play with only nine players after already having made five substitutions.

While Neymar was preparing for a new call-up to the Brazilian national team, his performance was discreet, far from the brilliance that fans expected. He played a role in the Santos goal, deflecting the ball to Gabigol, but managed only two shots throughout the match. The first was a header in the 36th minute of the second half, which went just wide, and the second, in stoppage time, was a free kick that was deflected by the defense and went out for a goal kick.

Despite having a numerical advantage in the final minutes, Corinthians could not capitalize on it, and the final score ended in a 1-1 draw. This tie leaves both clubs reflecting on what could have been, while fans eagerly await the next round of the championship. Neymar, for his part, will need to raise his level to justify his place in the national team.
