Reiss Nelson attracts strong interest from Valencia and Benfica amid Arsenal exit

Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war as major European clubs circle for his signature ahead of a pivotal summer window. The 26-year-old, sidelined from Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans, appears destined for a permanent exit after two consecutive loan spells at Fulham and Brentford.

Nelson’s time away from the Emirates has seen him clock up just 26 appearances across both stints, contributing three goals and three assists. Despite limited opportunities, his attacking flair has not gone unnoticed, with BBC Sport revealing that top European sides, including La Liga’s Valencia and Portuguese giants Benfica, are keen to secure the dynamic winger.

Arsenal are reportedly intent on cashing in on Nelson while they can, as his current contract expires next summer. The North London club sees this transfer window as the last realistic opportunity to recoup value for a player who is no longer seen as a part of Arteta’s long-term project.

Interest in Nelson is not confined to the continent. Fulham remain eager to bring him back, even as they face competition from Benfica, now managed by their former boss Marco Silva. The English club is said to be prepared for a direct battle with Silva to clinch Nelson’s services, underscoring the high demand for his attacking prowess.

Significantly, Nelson is understood to have rejected overtures from other Premier League outfits, signalling his readiness for a new challenge abroad. This decision adds further intrigue to the unfolding transfer saga, as the player weighs up his next move with multiple suitors across Europe ready to pounce.

Nelson’s situation exemplifies the high-stakes manoeuvring of the summer market, with clubs across England, Spain, and Portugal vying to land a player whose talent has only been glimpsed in flashes. As Arsenal look to reshape their squad, Nelson’s impending departure is set to ignite fierce competition among Europe’s elite, with all eyes on where the winger’s next chapter will unfold.
