Roma Secures Konstantinos Koulierakis from Wolfsburg in €15 Million Deal
Roma have finalized a significant transfer agreement with Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg to acquire centre-back Konstantinos Koulierakis on a permanent basis. The deal, reported by multiple Italian sources including Fabrizio Romano, is valued at approximately €15 million plus additional performance-based add-ons.
The Giallorossi successfully negotiated personal terms with the 22-year-old defender and his representatives on Wednesday evening, marking a crucial step in strengthening their defensive line ahead of the new season. Koulierakis is expected to become the second permanent signing for Roma under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini this summer, following the high-profile acquisition of midfielder Santiago Castro from Bologna for €35 million plus bonuses.
Koulierakis brings a wealth of experience despite his young age, having amassed 59 Bundesliga appearances with Wolfsburg over the past two seasons. Prior to his tenure in Germany, the Greek international featured in 47 league matches for PAOK in Greece’s Super League. His defensive prowess has also been recognized at the international level, earning him 22 senior caps for Greece.
In parallel transfer news, Roma’s full-back Angelino is on the verge of completing a move back to Spain, with a verbal agreement reportedly in place to join Deportivo La Coruna. The transfer is anticipated to be finalized in the coming days, signaling further squad adjustments at the Stadio Olimpico.
The arrival of Koulierakis is a definitive statement from Roma as they look to bolster their backline with a promising talent capable of competing at the highest level in Serie A and European competitions. This strategic signing underscores Gasperini’s ambition to enhance the squad’s defensive solidity following a busy summer transfer window.
