Sassuolo set to win transfer race for Kieron Bowie ahead of Bologna and Celtic

Sassuolo Positions Itself to Secure Kieron Bowie in Fierce Transfer Duel with Cagliari, Bologna, and Celtic

Sassuolo is poised to triumph in the competitive race to acquire Scotland striker Kieron Bowie from Hellas Verona, edging out rivals Cagliari, Bologna, and Celtic. The proposed transfer, reportedly valued at €9-10 million plus add-ons, hinges on a critical meeting scheduled for Tuesday to finalize the deal. An integral component of the negotiation could involve Sassuolo’s 25-year-old centre-forward Samuele Mulattieri moving in the opposite direction to Verona.

Bowie, who joined Hellas Verona from Hibernian in January 2026 for €6 million, impressed during his brief stint despite the club’s relegation to Serie B. In 14 appearances, he netted four goals and provided one assist, showcasing his potential to thrive in Italy’s top tier. The striker has expressed a clear desire to continue competing in Serie A, positioning him favorably for a move to Sassuolo.

While Bologna and Celtic have also been linked with Bowie’s signature, his inclination to remain in Italy appears to favor Sassuolo’s ambitions. The tactical advantage Sassuolo holds could be the inclusion of Mulattieri—a product of Inter Milan’s youth academy and a player Verona admires. Mulattieri, acquired by Sassuolo in 2023 for €5.3 million and recently loaned to Deportivo La Coruna, presents an attractive bargaining chip for the Stadio Bentegodi side.

This potential swap deal adds a strategic dimension to the transfer saga, offering Verona a promising replacement while Sassuolo strengthens its attacking options. The meeting on Tuesday will be decisive in determining if Sassuolo can clinch the deal and secure Bowie’s services ahead of their Serie A rivals.
