“Premier League players who disappoint with drops in performance.”

The Premier League has seen some dramatic drops in performance this season, with players who were once stars struggling to maintain their level. Among the most notable names is Mohamed Salah, who set almost impossible standards during his career at Liverpool. His ability to score and assist was record-breaking last season, but this year, the Egyptian seems to have lost his explosive touch.

“I’m feeling that the pressure is different, and that can affect my game,” Salah said, reflecting on the difficulties he is facing. With only four goals and six assists so far, the 33-year-old is experiencing the longest goal drought of his career in the Premier League, having gone nine games without scoring. His lack of impact in one-on-one situations is alarming and raises questions about his future with the team.

Another standout player is Justin Kluivert. The Dutch forward had an impressive campaign in the 2024-25 season, scoring 12 goals and being called up to the national team. However, this season, Kluivert has seen his record drop dramatically, with only two goals in 10 starts for Bournemouth. Following knee surgery, his absence from the field is felt and his struggle to regain a fixed position in the team is evident.

Jorgen Strand Larsen, who delighted Wolves fans with 14 goals in his first season, has also struggled to maintain his form. The Norwegian, who was one of the standout players last campaign, has only managed to score once in the early months of this season, leaving Wolves in a critical position in the table. After a record transfer to Crystal Palace in January, he scored on his home debut, but he is still far from the numbers he achieved in the previous season.

Finally, Chris Wood, a name synonymous with reliability in attack, had a standout season, scoring 20 goals and leading Nottingham Forest to European qualification. However, his form has plummeted, and after a promising start with a goal in the opening match, he has failed to score in seven consecutive games before a knee injury sidelined him since October.

These declines in player form highlight not only the pressure that the Premier League imposes, but also the challenges athletes face in trying to maintain a level of excellence. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how these players adapt and attempt to reclaim their former glory.
