The Real Madrid forward rejected several external offers last summer.

In the bustling transfer window of 2025, Real Madrid became the center of attention, not only for its participation in the prestigious Club World Cup but also for the change in management, with Xabi Alonso replacing Carlo Ancelotti, and for the acquisition of new talents such as Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carerras, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Despite the significant changes in the team, the exodus of players was surprisingly limited, even with the awareness that playing time would be restricted for many.

One of the names at the center of speculation was Rodrygo. The highly sought-after young Brazilian seemed destined to leave the Santiago Bernabéu in search of a more prominent role, especially in his preferred position on the left wing. Doubts grew when, during the Club World Cup, Rodrygo accumulated only 101 minutes on the pitch. However, instead of succumbing to external pressures, the forward decided to stay, determined to fight for his future in the team. A decision that, ironically, ended up being marred by a serious injury, as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a recent match against Getafe.

But the twists did not stop there. Now explosive news is emerging through ESPN Brazil, revealing that Rodrygo rejected offers from giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and, surprisingly, multi-million dollar offers from Saudi Arabia. This act of loyalty is commendable; the player chose to remain in Madrid, even knowing he could face a shortage of playing time, especially in the position he so desires.

Rodrygo’s statements reflect a deep and passionate commitment to the club. He not only ignored the tempting possibility of joining two of the most powerful teams in Europe, champions of the UEFA Champions League, but also gave up a tax-free fortune that Saudi Arabia could have provided him. What is now required is for Real Madrid to reciprocate this love and loyalty. The club must provide assurances to Rodrygo that it will stand by him during his recovery, as well as outline plans for his return to competition as soon as he is fit again.

Since arriving at Santos in 2019, Rodrygo has been a vital force for the team, making 297 appearances and scoring 71 goals. His ability to shine in crucial moments, such as the two goals that marked the historic comeback against Manchester City, are memories that will be etched in the club’s history.

With the expectation that Rodrygo will be sidelined at least until the middle of next season, and considering the time needed to regain form, will Real Madrid look to the transfer market for a right winger? The answer to this question could be decisive for the future of both the team and the player himself. What is certain is that all eyes will be on the club’s movements in the upcoming transfer window.
