A new and explosive revelation indicates that Thomas Tuchel, the current England manager, is now in pole position to become the next manager of Manchester United, surpassing two other strong contenders in the race for the position. The well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the decision of the INEOS group, which owns the club, is being shaped by a key factor: experience in the Premier League.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, the Red Devils have experimented with a range of coaching profiles, but with an alarming outcome: all have failed to bring the desired stability and success. The recent appointments of Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim were attempts to innovate, betting on coaches from smaller European clubs who promised attractive and modern football. However, the reality at Old Trafford has been much more complicated. Both managers ultimately delivered disastrous campaigns, culminating in a 15th place finish last season, which represents one of the worst performances in the Premier League era.

Both coaches expressed surprise at the intensity and physicality of English football. While Amorim adapted more quickly, the tactical rigidity of his 3-4-2-1 system made him even more inflexible than his predecessor. In light of this scenario, INEOS is prioritizing Premier League experience in the search for Amorim’s successor. “The decision will depend on several factors. They want to play beautiful football, which is a crucial part of the history,” Romano states. “But remember this point: experience in the Premier League is vital. Manchester United needs a manager who can make an immediate impact.”

The position at Manchester United is one of the most pressurized in world football, but being the manager of the England national team is not far behind. Tuchel, who led England to an impeccable qualification for the World Cup, is one of the favorites in the upcoming tournament. The national team completed the qualification cycle with a 100% win record, scoring 22 goals and conceding none, an impressive demonstration of Tuchel’s work.

Manchester United had already shown interest in Tuchel after the 2023/24 season, when Ten Hag, despite winning the FA Cup, was on the brink of dismissal. At the time, Tuchel was interviewed by INEOS and left a strong impression on Sir Jim Ratcliffe. However, the manager rejected the offer, choosing to remain in his role with the national team, but the story may be about to change.

According to reporter Alex Crook, Tuchel is now at the “top” of Manchester United’s candidate list. “The name I keep hearing for the summer is Thomas Tuchel, who is very high on Manchester United’s list. He turned down the opportunity before becoming the England manager, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t open to the idea now,” Crook revealed.

Although other names, such as Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace, and Robert de Zerbi from Marseille, are also in the running, it is undeniable that Tuchel has taken the lead. The 52-year-old manager brings with him a wealth of experience from major European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, which is seen as a significant advantage compared to the other candidates.

Thomas Tuchel’s future at Manchester United looks more promising than ever, and the anticipation surrounding this potential signing only grows as the club seeks to reclaim lost glory.
