Tottenham Hotspur beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 in the Women’s Super League after coming from behind. Fran Kirby gave Brighton the lead in the third minute, but Spurs showed resilience and determination to secure their fifth win of the season.
The match was played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After a first half dominated by Brighton, the hosts responded after the break, with Signe Gaupset equalising following a pass from Olivia Holdt.
Shortly afterwards, Holdt made it 2-1 with an accurate shot, putting Tottenham in front and on course for a crucial victory, which keeps them in fourth place in the table.
The win is particularly significant for the side managed by Martin Ho, as it comes after a run of three defeats. With this result, Spurs have 16 points and move up to fourth, while Brighton drop to seventh, with only 11 points.
Head coach Martin Ho expressed his satisfaction with the team’s response: “The way we reacted to conceding was exemplary. We showed our strength and determination to get back into the game and win it.” Ho’s words reflect the importance of the comeback, not only for the team’s morale but also for the standings.
Tottenham’s next task is to continue their upward trajectory in the league, where confidence will now be a key factor. For Brighton, it will be crucial to regroup and find ways to avoid defeats away from home, as winning on the road remains a challenge.
The pressure is now on both teams to consolidate their positions and ambitions in the Women’s Super League.
