Trabzonspor targets Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini as alternative to Prestianni

Trabzonspor targets Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini as alternative to Prestianni

Trabzonspor have launched discussions with Bologna for Riccardo Orsolini, identifying the Italian winger as a prime alternative should negotiations for Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni fail to materialise. The Turkish club’s decisive move underscores the intensifying transfer activity linking Turkish Super Lig sides with Serie A, fuelled by a growing synergy between the two footballing nations.

Sources indicate Trabzonspor’s approach for Orsolini comes as the 29-year-old nears the end of his contract with Bologna, making him an attractive prospect for a potential summer switch. Orsolini, a dynamic presence on the flanks, has operated at the Stadio Dall’Ara since 2018 following a €15 million transfer from Juventus. His international pedigree is also notable, having netted two goals in his 13 appearances for the Italian national team.

The versatile attacker, renowned for his preference to operate on the right wing and cut inside onto his favoured left foot, has enjoyed a productive spell in Serie A. Last season, Orsolini registered an impressive 14 goals and a single assist across 51 competitive fixtures for Bologna, further establishing his reputation as a proven offensive threat in one of Europe’s top leagues.

While Gianluca Prestianni remains Trabzonspor’s primary target, the club is actively considering Orsolini as a robust alternative should their pursuit of the Benfica forward stall. This strategic manoeuvring comes amid a period of deepening ties between Turkish and Italian football, exemplified by the appointment of Vincenzo Montella as Turkiye’s national team head coach and the recent hiring of Vincenzo Italiano by Besiktas.

Trabzonspor’s keen interest in Orsolini signals their intent to inject top-tier European experience into their squad ahead of the new season, leveraging the Italian’s proven track record and tactical versatility. As the transfer window heats up, the club’s negotiations with both Bologna and Benfica will be closely monitored, with Orsolini’s contract situation adding further intrigue to the unfolding saga.
