Jadon Sancho continues to concern Aston Villa and Manchester United: Emery reveals crucial update on the English winger’s injury

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery shed light on the physical condition of Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, who is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during last month’s international break. The 25-year-old English forward suffered the issue in a friendly against Elche, where he had to leave the match injured in the 40th minute following a heavy fall.

Sancho, who started the match, fell awkwardly on his shoulder, necessitating an immediate substitution for Ollie Watkins and temporary immobilization of the arm. The severity of the injury raised concerns, with sources indicating that the player could be sidelined for two to three weeks. However, subsequent examinations ruled out a dislocation, pointing to a shoulder joint issue that requires care and recovery time.

In a press conference ahead of Villa’s Europa League clash against Bologna, Unai Emery confirmed that Sancho will not be available for Thursday’s match, nor for the upcoming encounter on Sunday against Nottingham Forest. “Sancho will not be out for long, but he is still unavailable. In a few days or one or two weeks, he will return. He is progressing well, but he will not be available for tomorrow,” stated the Spanish coach, making it clear that the winger’s absence will extend over a few more crucial matches.

The absence of Sancho did not prevent Aston Villa from securing an important away victory against Bologna, winning 3-1, with goals from Ezri Konsa and a brace from Ollie Watkins ensuring a comfortable lead for the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is preparing for an exciting classic at Old Trafford on Monday, hosting Leeds United in a match that promises to be decisive for the Red Devils’ season.

Jadon Sancho’s situation is undoubtedly a focal point for fans of both clubs, eager for the English talent’s return to the pitch, but aware of the need for a solid recovery to avoid future complications. Emery and the Aston Villa medical team now face the challenging task of managing the recovery process of the England international, who could be crucial in the final stretch of the season.
