The bitter defeat of Arsenal against Manchester United did not go unnoticed, and the repercussions are being felt everywhere. Last Sunday, the Gunners suffered their first home defeat of the season, falling 3-2 to the Red Devils. With this result, Mikel Arteta’s team has gone without a win in the last three rounds of the Premier League, although they still maintain a four-point lead over their closest rivals, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

After the final whistle, former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira did not hold back his criticism, particularly highlighting young talent Bukayo Saka. In statements to Sky Sports, Vieira said: “Arsenal needs to get back to basics. They need to play with freedom and express the fundamentals to move forward. Some of the players have to give their best because some of them did not show what they can do today. Saka was too quiet. In big games, he is expected to take the lead and play a decisive role, but he did not.”

However, despite Vieira’s harsh words, Saka was among the best on the pitch. The winger managed to complete three out of five dribbles, making him the team’s most effective player in terms of dribbling. Additionally, only Declan Rice had more key passes, with four, compared to Saka. This performance, while positive, still raises questions about Saka’s need to stand out in clashes with the league giants if he wants to reach the highest level.

Analyzing Saka’s history, in 65 matches against the so-called ‘Big Six’ teams of the Premier League, he has contributed to 29 goals. However, this season, he has only recorded one contribution, an assist in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. The pressure is mounting on the young England international, who will need to find a way to shine in crucial moments if Arsenal wants to challenge for the title.

The situation is becoming critical for the Gunners, and the need for a more assertive and decisive Saka in big matches has never been more evident. As the season progresses, fans hope that the young prodigy will find his voice and turn criticism into motivation, helping Arsenal get back on the path to victory.
