2025 was a challenging year for Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims, but not for the reasons many were observing in the competitions. In addition to the pressure of Koepka’s career, the couple faced a devastating loss: the death of their baby at 16 weeks of gestation. Since then, Jena has openly shared her pain, showing that this is a struggle she is still processing.

During a recent Q&A session on Instagram, a follower asked Sims about her desire to have more children. Her response was direct and heartfelt. “I’m enjoying what we have in this moment,” she wrote, accompanied by a loving photo of her two-year-old son, Crew. “Our loss at 16 weeks is something I am still healing from.” This statement, though understated, reveals that the pain still lingers and that it is not a chapter Jena has closed.

Sims was the first to publicly share this tragedy in October 2025, posting a series of images on Instagram that included ultrasounds, flowers, and photos of her growing belly. In the caption, she expressed: “At 16 weeks, we learned that our baby’s heart had stopped beating. This is a pain no parent is prepared for. We are devastated, but we remain hopeful for a day to give Crew a sibling.” Additionally, Jena made a point to acknowledge the doctors and nurses who have the difficult task of delivering such sad news, stating that “it is the hardest part of their job.”

What makes Sims’ openness so significant is that many deal with this type of grief in silence, never publicly addressing their pain. She has previously expressed that these struggles often occur in secret, and her willingness to continue speaking on the subject, even months later, gives her platform considerable weight.

Crew Sims Koepka, the first son of Jena and Brooks, was born in July 2023, six weeks ahead of schedule, via emergency cesarean section. At just two years old, Crew is a source of joy during such a difficult time for the family. When asked how she was coping, Jena replied, “I’m really excited for the tournament this week! Work is good, the relationship is great, and Crew is in such a fun stage. I have so much to be grateful for.”

Pain and gratitude, as can be seen, can coexist. “There’s no timeline or manual for healing,” Sims said previously, reflecting on her experience. “If I can make one woman feel less alone by sharing, then I’ve already accomplished my mission.” According to various reports, she has done this exemplarily.

In the same Q&A session, Jena Sims offered a glimpse into her personal life, sharing moments from her daily routine with Crew and Brooks. She emphasized that her work is stable, the relationship is strong, and Crew is happy, demonstrating that she is making emotional progress while balancing her responsibilities as a mother and her public life connected to the PGA Tour.

She also shared funny moments with her son, such as when she taught Crew to say “Dawgs,” which she found “adorable.” The sincerity in her words, even when admitting that she doesn’t have the energy to watch videos online, shows how authentic she is as a mother. Despite her busy public schedule, Jena maintains a light and humorous tone.

Another moment of interaction with fans revealed how Koepka behaves at home. Jena praised her husband, saying, “He is the best.” The phrase “Choose your husbands wisely,” a constant in her posts, illustrates that she is a present mother. This comment not only casts their relationship in a positive light but also shows that, even while facing the loss of a pregnancy and media attention, the couple supports each other.

Koepka’s defense of Jena when she faced online criticism for a bikini photo exemplifies the support they have for one another. He challenged the nasty comments, stating that he respects his wife’s choices. This strong bond between them is evident in both good times and bad, proving that together they are ready to face any storm.
