LIV Golf continues its triumphant march through the world of golf, and the latest event in Hong Kong was nothing short of spectacular. The tournament, held at the iconic Hong Kong Golf Club, marked the third stop of the season and opened the doors to a sequence of three competitions in different countries. With an impressive total prize pool of $30 million, players fiercely battled for a share of the pot, but it was Jon Rahm who stood out, taking home $4 million after a stunning performance.
“It was an incredible week, and I’m very pleased with my performance,” said Rahm, who finished the tournament an impressive 23 under par, including a final round of 64. The Spanish player left no room for doubt, winning by three strokes over the runner-up, Thomas Detry, who was also part of the winning team competition, the 4Aces. Rahm’s victory not only earned him a trophy but also solidified his lead in the league standings with a nearly 200-point advantage over Elvis Smylie.
The 4Aces team, which includes stars like Dustin Johnson and Anthony Kim, proved unbeatable, collecting $3 million in team prizes. “We worked hard together, and that showed in our performance,” said Johnson, who, despite a modest tie for 24th place, contributed to the collective victory. Detry and Thomas Pieters, also from the 4Aces, ensured the team stood out in a tournament that had a tumultuous start, with eight players initially stranded in the Middle East due to airport closures following regional tensions.
The list of individual winners is a testament to the competitiveness of the event. Detry took home $2.25 million, while Pieters secured $1.5 million, followed by Harold Varner III and Matthew Wolff, who also excelled among the top finishers. The prize distribution was generous, and even players who finished lower on the leaderboard were able to leave with a significant financial reward.
With Hong Kong now in the rearview mirror, LIV Golf is set to move on to new destinations: Singapore and South Africa will be the next stops, promising more excitement and a fierce battle for glory. What is clear is that the league is making its mark on the golf scene, and anticipation for the upcoming events is only growing.
