Sergio García, a former Masters champion, staged a spectacle of frustration and drama on the final day of the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National. Although he is no longer at the peak of his career, the Spaniard showed that the pressure and difficulty of the legendary course continue to test even the most experienced, culminating in an outburst of anger that marked his final round.

After making the cut with some margin, García entered the weekend with moderate expectations. However, Saturday became complicated with a round 2 over par (74), and on Sunday things worsened even further. Right on the first hole, a bogey put him on alert, and on the second hole, a par-5, his tee shot landed in a bunker, which heightened his frustration. In a fit of fury, García struck a brutal blow to the driver against the tee markers, breaking the club head in front of the cameras and the incredulous eyes of the fans.

“I couldn’t continue with the clubs I brought, I had to play the rest of the day without a driver,” revealed García, showing how difficult it was to cope with the situation on such a demanding course as Augusta. Without his main tool for long shots, García still managed to finish with a round 3 over par (75), ending the tournament with a total of 8 over par, far from the top positions.
