Roland Garros 2026: Sinner challenges Aliassime and Medvedev, Djokovic faces Zverev in an explosive showdown!
The 125th edition of Roland Garros promises to be a breathtaking spectacle! The main draw has just been revealed and is already igniting the tennis world. Jannik Sinner, Italy’s great hope and sensation of the season, is determined to claim the coveted Career Grand Slam in Paris. On the other side, Novak Djokovic is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, a historic achievement that would further cement his place among the greatest of all time. Alexander Zverev is also in the running, eager to lift the trophy for the first time at one of the four major tournaments on the circuit.
But take note: this edition of Roland Garros will not feature all the favorites. The current champion Carlos Alcaraz and semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti are absent, changes that completely alter the competitive landscape.
Sinner leads the Italian contingent with at least eight players in action, including names such as Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Sonego, and the rising Andrea Pellegrino. The young player from San Candido, who comes off impressive victories in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome, makes his debut against French wild card Clément Tabur. If he overcomes this hurdle, he could face Jacob Fearnley or Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round.
The path for the Italian is far from easy. The first seed he may encounter is Corentin Moutet, although he must be cautious of Martin Landaluce. In the fourth round, Sinner could face Luciano Darderi or Sebastian Ofner, while the main contenders to reach the quarter-finals in this section are Ben Shelton, Alexander Bublik, Frances Tiafoe, and Tallon Griekspoor. Berrettini has the tough task of stopping Rinderknech, but he will need to overcome the strong Marton Fucsovics first. Meanwhile, Matteo Arnaldi will face the dangerous Griekspoor.
A hot point in the draw is that Sinner will avoid Djokovic until a potential semi-final, where the Serbian is expected to face a significant opponent: the winner of the clash between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev. The Russian is in the eighth against Flavio Cobolli, who is awaiting a qualifier in the section of Learner Tien.
Djokovic, for his part, was unlucky in the draw and begins his campaign against the powerful server Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. In the third round, possible opponents include Dino Prizmic and Joao Fonseca, with a high-level showdown in the fourth round against Casper Ruud. In the quarter-finals, he could face Alex de Minaur or Andrey Rublev, two top players who promise a battle.
As for Alexander Zverev, the German will start against Benjamin Bonzi and, if he advances, will face the winner between Tomas Machac and Zizou Bergs. Young Arthur Fils is in the same quarter, while his path to the semifinals could intersect with Taylor Fritz, Rafael Nadal, and Jiri Lehecka.
This draw is creating extremely high expectations and promises many memorable matches on the mythical Parisian clay. Get ready for an epic battle, where glory could smile upon any of these giants of world tennis.
