Novak Djokovic faced a turbulent start at the Indian Wells tournament, where adverse conditions led him to an alarming situation during his match against Polish player Kamil Majchrzak. The Serbian star, known for his resilience, suffered from severe stomach pains, culminating in a shocking episode where he vomited on the court during the third set, after an extensive rally that exceeded 40 shots.

The cameras did not miss the moment, capturing Djokovic retreating behind the panels with a towel in hand, a clear sign that physical difficulties were affecting him. A small “vomit break” for the tennis icon that left many fans worried and perplexed.

At a press conference after the match, Djokovic did not hesitate to share his feelings about the exhausting experience. “It was five weeks without official matches, and I knew that the first encounter after such a long time would be complicated and demanding. The conditions were quite challenging,” the player revealed. He highlighted his ability to bounce back after losing the first set, stating, “I managed to regroup in the second set and didn’t look back. I felt I had to give my all when I needed it most, especially at the start of the third set, as it happened. I’m glad I was able to close out the match in that way.”

The 38-year-old athlete, originally from Belgrade, also reflected on his internal struggle, acknowledging that there are areas to improve but expressing satisfaction with how he stayed strong. “You can always look at things positively or negatively. I like the way I fought and resisted. I’m looking forward to the next round,” Djokovic said, visibly determined.

The uncertainties surrounding the tennis player’s physical condition before the tournament were palpable, as he has not had a standout performance at Indian Wells in recent years. Now, Djokovic is preparing to face American Aleksandar Kovacevic in the third round, with moderate expectations surrounding the world’s third-ranked player. However, as he progresses in the tournament, speculation about his performance is likely to increase, and fans hope he can regain his best game in pursuit of another title.
