Zverev pursues his first quarter-finals at Wimbledon after victory in Paris.

Alexander Zverev, recently crowned champion of the Roland Garros, adopts a surprisingly calm and confident demeanor as he approaches Wimbledon, where he has never advanced past the fourth round. The German, who now occupies the second position in the draw due to the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, arrives in London with renewed ambitions and an inner conviction fueled by the unprecedented achievement of winning his first Grand Slam.

Despite never having shone on the sacred lawns of the All England Club, Zverev believes that his triumph in Paris could be the catalyst to break the jinx. “Many people think that when you win a Grand Slam tournament, your life changes in some way,” the tennis player stated during the pre-tournament press conference. “In reality, I’ve realized that it’s not quite like that. I continue to enjoy the things I do outside the court, like playing golf with my friends or taking my daughter to the kids’ club. Those routines don’t truly change.”

The German emphasized that, despite the personal satisfaction he feels, he keeps his feet firmly on the ground: “Naturally, I feel a great inner satisfaction because it is something I have fought for throughout my career. But, aside from that, my life doesn’t change much. As you can see, just two and a half weeks later, we are already in Wimbledon and preparing for the next Slam.”

The topic of his health has also resurfaced, especially after the concerning incident during the Halle semi-finals, where a malfunction in his blood glucose monitoring sensor nearly forced him to withdraw from the match against Taylor Fritz. Confronted with what happened, Zverev responded: “The company is still investigating and analyzing what occurred. I have been using this device for over ten years, and this is the first time something like this has happened to me. Unfortunately, it occurred during a tennis match when I was already physically exhausted. The level of fatigue became too high for me. However, I want to emphasize: it has only happened once in more than ten years. These sensors continue to be extremely useful tools for those suffering from diabetes and greatly facilitate the life of a diabetic.”

With his sights already set on the lawns of London, Zverev does not hide his desire to turn around his negative history at Wimbledon: “This has always been the Grand Slam tournament where I have had the most difficulties. Personally, I feel different this year. I have the feeling that I have prepared well and I am playing excellent tennis at the moment. I will do everything in my power to demonstrate that on the court, simply during the matches. Beyond that, it’s all I can control. The rest will come in addition.”

Zverev’s arrival at Wimbledon, therefore, comes wrapped in an aura of expectation and ambition. The confidence he brings from Paris could be decisive in overcoming the barrier of the fourth round, especially in a draw marked by the absence of some favorites and the instability of the big names. The German can take advantage of his renewed physical and mental form to surprise more experienced opponents on grass, a surface that has traditionally been challenging for his style of play.

Beyond the sporting aspect, the issue of diabetes management once again positions Zverev as an example of overcoming challenges, inspiring fans and other athletes facing similar difficulties. The German player is determined not to let the incident in Halle distract him from his focus, relying both on technology and his preparation.

With Wimbledon set to begin, all eyes will be on Zverev’s performance. Should he confirm the progress he showed in Paris, he could finally establish himself as a title contender on grass, permanently altering his status on the circuit and paving the way for a new phase in his career. The next step is clear: to overcome the psychological barrier in London and prove that his victory at Roland Garros was just the beginning of something greater.
