FC Porto is preparing for a pre-season training camp that promises to be pivotal for the national champions as they gear up for a demanding season. The blue and white squad will travel to England for an intensive six-day training period from July 13 to 18, in a strategic choice aimed at enhancing the team’s performance ahead of the official season start.
According to A BOLA, the dragons will begin training at the Jorge Costa Sports Training and Development Centre in Olival on July 1, before heading to St. George’s Park, the prestigious training center of the English Football Association, located in Burton upon Trent. This venue is internationally recognized for its excellent training conditions, serving as the headquarters for the English national teams and an ideal setting for the Porto players to fine-tune their game.
Interestingly, FC Porto will share St. George’s Park with SC Braga, which will be at the same location from July 4 to 10, potentially opening the door for a meeting between Portuguese teams on English soil. In addition, FC Porto is finalizing negotiations to play a friendly match against an English team during the camp, a crucial opportunity to test the cohesion of Francesco Farioli’s squad against a quality opponent.
After this training period, the team will return to Portugal on July 18, precisely one day before the final of the 2026 World Cup, allowing time for the players to recover and fine-tune the last details before the start of the season. FC Porto’s first official commitment will be the Supercup, scheduled for August 1 or 2, against Torreense, a challenge that will serve to measure the team’s progress after the rigorous training camp in England.
This stage represents a clear commitment to improving physical and tactical preparation, aimed at keeping FC Porto at the top of national and European football. The decision to choose St. George’s Park reflects the club’s ambition to provide the squad with excellent training conditions, enhancing the competitive capacity of Francesco Farioli’s team for the upcoming season.
