Roma delivers a stunning rout and throws the race for the Champions League into a dramatic twist: 4-0 against Fiorentina at the Olimpico!

In a night of pure dominance and spectacle at the Olimpico Stadium, AS Roma crushed Fiorentina with a resounding 4-0 victory, dangerously closing in on fourth place in Serie A, currently held by Juventus. This result shakes up the battle for Champions League spots and leaves the Romans with high ambitions, while the Viola, despite the heavy defeat, remains far from the relegation danger zone.

The match began with Roma showing early intent to control the game. Donyell Malen broke through against a defensive wall from Fiorentina, and in a fortuitous play, his shot was deflected by Luca Ranieri, hitting the crossbar. From the resulting corner, Niccolò Pisilli sent the ball to Gianluca Mancini, who, unmarked, headed in the first goal in the 13th minute, putting the Giallorossi ahead.

AS Roma’s response was swift and lethal. In a lightning-fast counterattack, Pisilli launched Matias Soulé, who set up Mario Hermoso, before Wesley entered the scene and promptly fired in to make it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Fiorentina, completely apathetic and off-target, watched as Manu Koné surpassed Nicolò Fagioli to cross for Hermoso to score the third goal in the 34th minute, practically sealing the match.

The Florence team attempted to react from the middle of the first half, with Nicolò Fagioli trying a shot that nearly caught Mile Svilar off guard, but the interval arrived with AS Roma comfortably in control.

In the second half, Fiorentina made changes to the lineup, introducing young Riccardo Braschi, who almost scored immediately, but luck was not on the visitors’ side. Roma continued to press and create danger: Malen, always incisive, saw his shot deflected onto the crossbar by David De Gea, keeping the opposing team on edge.

The icing on the cake came in the 58th minute when Malen delivered a perfect ball for Pisilli to head in and score AS Roma’s fourth goal. Fiorentina could barely breathe or respond, leaving the Olimpico in ecstasy with the hosts’ overwhelming performance.

With this victory, AS Roma moves to just one point behind Juventus, opening up the race for the coveted Champions League spots, at a time when Milan, Napoli, and Como are also struggling to secure decisive wins.

On Fiorentina’s side, the 4-0 elimination is a harsh blow, but the team can breathe a sigh of relief regarding their survival in Serie A, thanks to Cremonese’s defeat in the previous match.
