Emma Raducanu surprises the tennis world once again by resuming her partnership with Andrew Richardson, the coach who guided her to a historic victory at the US Open. After a turbulent period and several changes in her coaching staff, the young British star seems eager to find her way back to success by returning to a familiar figure who marked the peak of her career.

According to The Telegraph, Richardson, who was abruptly dismissed shortly after the player’s unexpected triumph in New York, is now back as her mentor at a crucial stage of her recovery and return to the WTA circuit. Despite achieving glory with Richardson, Raducanu has never been able to demonstrate her full potential under his guidance, later opting to train with prominent names such as Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov, and Francisco Roig. Amid these changes, the British tennis player also sought comfort in familiar faces like Nick Cavaday and Jane O’Donoughue, in an attempt to stabilize her career.

This tendency to return to “old acquaintances” is not new for Raducanu. Recently, she has turned once again to Mark Petchey and Nick Cavaday, especially after the recent separations from her coaches. However, Petchey, who accompanied the tennis player during her best phase so far, has been clear in stating that he does not intend to take on a full-time commitment, citing a lack of job security. Currently, Petchey remains connected to Tennis Channel, which he does not wish to give up.

Andrew Richardson, for his part, has been working at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in La Nucia, Spain, where he trained with Raducanu last month. This return to training was kept secret by IMG, the agency managing the player’s career, while she dealt with a prolonged viral illness that forced her to withdraw from several tournaments since the Cluj final in March.

Since Tuesday, Emma Raducanu has been back in London, training at the National Tennis Centre in the southwest of the British capital. It is not yet confirmed whether the young player will compete in the tournament in Rome, but her presence in training alongside Eva Lys in the upcoming week suggests that she may, at the very least, travel to the event. This return to the courts, supported by the reconnection with Andrew Richardson, could be a sign that Raducanu is determined to regain the form and confidence that took her to the top of world tennis.

Emma Raducanu, at 20 years old, remains a figure of great interest in the landscape of women’s tennis, and this reunion with the coach who helped her achieve her greatest feat promises to be a decisive chapter in her career. The coming months will be crucial to understand if this investment in technical and emotional stability can restore the young Briton’s champion shine that the sports world so admires.
