Joan Laporta, the newly elected president of FC Barcelona, is operating at full throttle, making bold promises that could change the course of the Catalan club. In an explosive interview with RAC1, Laporta addressed the contractual situation of coach Hansi Flick, forward Robert Lewandowski, the loaned striker from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford, and sporting director Deco, revealing ambitious plans for the future of Barça.

Confirming that Hansi Flick will continue to lead the team is a priority for Laporta, who did not hesitate to express his intention to extend the coach’s contract until 2028. “The current board can renew Flick’s contract. We want him to stay until 2028, with the idea that each season has a grace period of one year. He is in favor, and we will announce the agreement soon, as he is very happy here,” Laporta stated. Flick’s relationship with the team is considered vital, and the president believes that his continuation will bring the much-needed stability to the club. “He is a young man full of energy, and he is happy in the city,” he added.

Regarding sporting director Deco, Laporta expressed hope that the former player will continue at the club. “I hope Deco wants to stay. He is a reserved, introverted person, but happy with his work. He gets along very well with Flick and they respect each other,” he commented. The situation of Robert Lewandowski was also addressed, with Laporta wishing for the Polish forward to remain, should he desire to do so. “He came to Barça in a very difficult situation. If he wants to stay, we would like him to stay. He combines well with Ferran Torres,” he said.

But the surprises do not end there. Regarding Marcus Rashford, Laporta praised the performances of the English forward, highlighting his ability to provide assists and score goals. “Marcus is playing a very good role, and I hope that if he plays, he helps us get through the tie. We will try to talk to the Manchester United,” he stated.

With Laporta at the helm, Barcelona seems to be on a path of renewal, focusing on continuity and building a competitive team. The anticipation surrounding their contractual promises and potential signings will be a hot topic in the coming days. The future of Barcelona has never seemed so promising, but only time will tell if these intentions will materialize into concrete actions.
