Peter Schmeichel makes surprising prediction for Manchester United after Aston Villa’s victory.

After an impressive victory over Aston Villa, Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel made a bold prediction: Michael Carrick’s team could still catch up with rival Manchester City in the title race. Our form is much better and the confidence in the squad is growing. If they instill that confidence in the team, give the job to Michael Carrick and let him choose the players he wants. It’s not a huge distance to close,” he said.

The former goalkeeper also backed the permanent appointment of Carrick as manager. “We’ve tried everything, all the big names and sophisticated systems. Keep things simple. He knows the club and that would make life easier for the players,” he emphasized. Schmeichel acknowledged that there is still a huge amount of work ahead, but praised Carrick for how he has managed to get the available players to play good football.

Freddie Ljungberg, an Arsenal legend and Schmeichel’s colleague at Viaplay, agreed on the need to give Carrick a chance. “We’ve had all these great managers, we’ve tried and it hasn’t worked. Give him the chance! The sooner you make the decision, the easier it will be,” Ljungberg said, comparing Carrick’s situation to that of other managers who have failed to bring success to the club.
