Rickie Fowler, one of the prominent names in golf, saw his hopes of shining at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am dramatically sink this Saturday. Despite starting the day just one stroke off the lead after an impressive second round of 64, fate took a treacherous turn for the athlete, leading him to face a double bogey that ruined his aspirations.

Fowler began the 2026 season with renewed energy, stating that the shoulder pain that plagued him throughout last year was no longer a concern. This allowed him to strike the ball with confidence, and he was determined to make a strong statement during this iconic tournament. “My shoulder was bad all last year, so I was just trying to manage and get through it as best as I could. I definitely earned that time off by managing to get into the top 50, which was a nice bonus,” Fowler said, revealing his desire to build on that positive form.

However, the dream of a glorious weekend crumbled in a matter of moments. On the stunning sixth hole, one of many that hug the coast of Pebble Beach, a misdirected drive left him in a tricky position. Although there was still an opportunity to recover, the second shot was also disastrous, resulting in a double bogey that pushed him far from the lead, with a total of 12 over par for the tournament.

Fowler’s experience at Pebble Beach has not been the best. In five previous appearances, he has not achieved a single top-20 finish, even missing the cut on two occasions. “I love being here, especially when we have weather like this. It would be great if the weather on Sunday stays like this or isn’t as bad as it can be,” he said, reflecting on the beauty of the location and his passion for the game.

Fowler, a six-time winner on the PGA Tour, continues to struggle to establish himself at the top, but his journey at Pebble Beach this year reveals the ups and downs that characterize the sport. With the season still in its early stages, fans hope he can regain his form and bring back his edge in the upcoming tournaments.
