Real Madrid faces a worrying trend in finishing despite Mbappé.

The situation at Real Madrid is alarming and requires a deep analysis. After a period of 18 months without winning a single significant trophy, the Merengue team seems to be experiencing a genuine crisis. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, the promise of a new chapter, driven by the arrival of prodigy Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain, has quickly fizzled out. The expectation was that the club would continue its successful trajectory after winning the Champions League in the previous season, but the reality is quite different.

Defensive difficulties have been widely recognized, but what is even more concerning is the notable scarcity of goals. According to Cadena SER, the 2023-24 season, which was the last without Mbappé, saw Real Madrid score an average of 2.29 goals per game. However, that number dropped to 2.05 in the following campaign, 2024-25. To make matters worse, the average goals in the 2025-26 season fell even further, to just 2 goals per game, a statistic that was slightly elevated after an impressive performance where the team scored six goals against AS Monaco last Tuesday.

The numbers are clear and reveal a worrying trend: Mbappé’s presence is not translating into greater offensive productivity for the team. While the French forward has been a true marksman, with an impressive 76 goals in 86 matches across all competitions, the lack of support has been evident. Players such as Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo Goes, and Jude Bellingham have seen their offensive contributions drop drastically, raising questions about the dynamics of the attack and the strategy of the coach.

The situation is creating a climate of pressure behind the scenes at Valdebebas, where club officials are beginning to question the effectiveness of the playing model. Relying on a single player for goal production is a recipe for disaster, and the lack of support in the forward line could cost Real Madrid dearly in future competitions. Fans are demanding answers, and as the season progresses, the need for a revolution in attack becomes increasingly urgent. If the club intends to regain its glory, a tactical change and a revitalization of the offensive team are imperative.
