Mateus Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder of Tottenham Hotspur, revealed his full dedication to the club, aligning himself with the vision of coach Roberto De Zerbi, who aims to guide the team in climbing the Premier League table. After two disappointing seasons, Fernandes believes that Tottenham can turn the situation around and, in an interview with Football London, expressed the collective ambition that exists within the squad.

The Portuguese international emphasized De Zerbi's conviction that the team can move from two consecutive seasons in 17th place to competing for the top of the Premier League, in a season that is not burdened by European commitments. Despite the clear ambition to challenge for the title, Fernandes stressed that success in English football requires consistent execution and an unwavering focus, without rushing.

Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of the competition, the midfielder stated: “We know that anything can happen in the Premier League. Every game is very difficult. We are trying to follow the principles, day by day, game by game.” This approach demonstrates the meticulous attention that De Zerbi's squad is dedicating to honing their tactical principles during daily training, which will be crucial for the team's performance when competitive matches begin.

With the absence of European matches during the week, De Zerbi and his coaching staff have the opportunity to conduct uninterrupted micro-training cycles, allowing for greater focus on tactical details, physical condition, and team cohesion. Fernandes also highlighted the importance of the quality of players recruited in the summer, which will contribute to raising the overall level of the team: “Of course we have players who improve the team and we are progressing day by day, step by step. We will see.”

By combining the high-caliber new additions with De Zerbi's intense tactical structure, Tottenham aims to transform its trajectory in the Premier League. Fernandes' pragmatic yet determined perspective reflects a team focused on proving its worth on the pitch and on rebuilding Tottenham as a true force in English football.
