“Amorim reveals Milan’s historic bet on Gonçalo Ramos in the market.”

Rúben Amorim broke his silence and revealed AC Milan's new market strategy, detailing the significant investment in Gonçalo Ramos, the club's new striker. The deep restructuring of the management, with Amorim taking over the technical command following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri, marked the beginning of a new era in Milan, now led by the trio Massimo Calvelli (CEO), Hendrik Almstadt (director of player negotiations), and Bobby Gardiner (director of sporting intelligence).

The Portuguese coach, confirmed in his position in June, finally appeared alongside owner Gerry Cardinale at a press conference characterized by transparency about the upcoming steps in the transfer market. When asked whether Gonçalo Ramos was signed to play alongside Rafael Leão, Amorim declined to comment on the future of the Portuguese international but made it clear regarding the criteria for selecting the new forward.

“I don't want to talk about specific players, but I can talk about Gonçalo Ramos because he is a young player, was signed for a lot of money, and I can explain why we chose him,” Amorim began, emphasizing the collective nature of the club's decisions: “We did this work as a team. I am the one who defines the profile for the team, and they find the best available players for that position. This will be the type of work we will have here. It is not the coach who chooses the name; I choose the profile, and then we follow the scouting.”

Amorim justified the bet on Gonçalo Ramos with solid arguments: “We believe a lot in Gonçalo Ramos; in the last game (of the World Cup) against Croatia, he scored against a low block with many defenders on him. If you watch games in Italy, it’s often like this; teams defend very well, and he can score against low blocks, he can score in transitions.” The coach also highlighted the competitive attitude of the new signing: “One of the aspects that is really important to me with Gonçalo Ramos is that if you see him play for five minutes or from the start, he is the same player. With Gonçalo Ramos, everything revolves around the team; if we want to press high, we need a forward who does that work. He plays five minutes and follows the defenders everywhere.”

For Amorim, the signing of Ramos goes beyond the sporting component: “It’s more than just a player; it’s a message to show that we want someone who believes in the team, and I am very pleased that everything happened so quickly. That was also a sign that there is confidence in what I am trying to build here.”

Regarding Rafael Leão, he limited himself to praising the forward: “Rafael Leão played very well in the World Cup; he is our player, and I am very satisfied with our team, which is why I am a happy coach.”

With this speech, Amorim clearly revealed Milan's commitment to a modern and collaborative approach to the market, focusing on the player's profile and collective dynamics. The arrival of Gonçalo Ramos, in addition to strengthening the attack, symbolizes the beginning of a new cycle at San Siro, with Amorim's leadership promising profound changes in the club's mentality and methods.
