What a player he is, a great player. He showed that in the final of the European Championship with England, in finals, he scored in the FA Cup final in 2024 against Manchester City. Michael Carrick, who has known Mainoo since his time working with youth teams, also spoke about the bet on the midfielder: “It wasn’t a difficult decision. He has enormous talent. I’ve known Kobbie since he was 13 or 14 years old, when I started getting my coaching badges. I’ve seen him play on big occasions, and what he has done at his age is incredible. We often forget about his youth.”
Carrick also explained his approach to integrating the young player: “It’s not easy to find rhythm and form when you’re not playing regularly. There are things he can improve on, but we haven’t started working on that seriously yet because we want him to find his flow and rhythm of play again. I’ve been careful to give him only a few specific pointers, but I trust in what he is. He’s a fantastic footballer with huge talent.”
