Chelsea embarks on a frantic hunt for a top coach… but the target is far from convinced!

The London giant finds itself at a dramatic crossroads in its search for a new manager, following the unexpected departure of Liam Rosenior, which shook the club’s dressing room and management. In the corridors of Stamford Bridge, the name of Francesco Farioli, the young Italian prodigy who is revolutionizing FC Porto, is the main target of the pursuit. However, the rising star, aged 37, is far from yielding to the advances and remains steadfast at the Dragão.

Since taking charge of FC Porto, Farioli has amassed impressive numbers — 37 wins in 50 matches, leading the Portuguese club to an almost certain title, its first in four years. This meteoric success earned him a robust contract until 2028, secured by a €20 million release clause, a considerable financial barrier for the Blues, according to the newspaper Record.

But if the high fee is an obstacle for Chelsea, Farioli’s determination to stay in Porto is even greater. When faced with the possibility of leaving Portugal to embrace the London challenge, the coach did not hesitate: “Yes, absolutely. I am the coach of Porto and I am very happy here.” These words, spoken in an interview with Sport TV, make it clear that the Italian is not willing to trade the Dragão for the Blues… at least not for now.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s management is not just knocking on the Dragão’s door. The search for a leader who can return the club to the top of European football continues, with other names being considered. Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth manager, is on the radar and is set to finish his contract at the end of the season, making him a viable option. Marco Silva, the current Fulham manager, is also among the alternatives being studied by the club’s officials.

Even Cesc Fàbregas, the former Chelsea midfielder, has been linked to the position, but the latest information indicates that the Spaniard is looking towards a long-term return to Arsenal, distancing himself, for now, from a possible return to Stamford Bridge.

Caution is the watchword at Chelsea, which does not want to repeat the mistake made with Liam Rosenior. The coach, who signed a six-year contract, was abruptly dismissed after just a few months, a decision made following an emergency board meeting prompted by a dismal run of five consecutive defeats in the Premier League and a disastrous 3-0 loss to Brighton, with no goals scored.

Rosenior, who was reportedly involved in rumors of internal tensions with players, could receive up to £24 million in contract termination fees, according to BBC Sport, a high price for a gamble that quickly backfired.

Chelsea is at a decisive moment: choosing a new leader with care to regain lost glory, knowing that time is not on their side. The pursuit of Francesco Farioli may not reach its destination, but the fight for the club’s future is far from over. The Blues understand that the next step could define the coming years for the London club. The pressure is intense, and the next decision will be crucial.
