Turkish giants Galatasaray are preparing for a bold move to secure the captain of Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes, allocating a significant amount to ensure his transfer this summer. With an estimated value of around €60 million (£52 million), the Turkish Super Lig club is determined to outpace competition from heavyweights like Bayern Munich. This move comes at a critical time, as Fernandes, one of the few bright spots in the Red Devils’ squad, has expressed his sadness upon realizing that the club might be willing to let him go.
The Portuguese international, who is contracted to Manchester United until 2027, revealed that he felt pressure to consider offers, particularly the tempting approach from Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window. “It was hurting me and making me sad to know that Manchester United wanted me to leave,” Fernandes confessed. Despite this, he decided to reject the Saudi proposals, demonstrating loyalty to the club that has welcomed him over the past few years.

In December, Fernandes commented on the interest from Saudi Arabia, revealing that the president of Al Hilal contacted him directly. “Neves sent me a message saying he wanted to talk to me. They wanted me to play in the Club World Cup with Al Hilal,” said the captain. Although the idea of a move to Saudi Arabia was tempting, Fernandes emphasized that he is not pushing for that exit, even feeling that the hierarchy at Manchester United was inclined to let him go.
“I can’t complain, I’m very well paid, but the difference is huge. If one day I have to play in Saudi Arabia, I will play in Saudi Arabia,” he stated. He acknowledges that the move could bring a more pleasant lifestyle for his family, away from the cold and rain of Manchester, in a rising league with recognized players. “I decided to stay for family reasons and because I really like the club. But, from the club’s side, I felt a bit that ‘if you leave, it won’t be so bad for us’,” he lamented.
Bruno Fernandes, a player who has always given his all on the pitch, expressed his frustration at seeing players who do not value the club in the same way. “That makes me sad. I’m always available, always playing, good or bad. I give my best,” he declared, reflecting on his relationship with Manchester United and the uncertainties surrounding it.
