The new Tottenham manager, Igor Tudor, is “100%” convinced that the team will avoid relegation from the Premier League, despite being in a critical situation. Currently, the Spurs are in 16th place in the table, with just a five-point margin above the relegation zone, where West Ham is struggling. With only 12 league games left, time is a crucial factor for the club’s survival.

Tudor, who took over after the dismissal of Thomas Frank on February 11, brings with him extensive experience, having managed renowned clubs such as Marseille, Lazio, and Juventus. In his first press conference, the former Croatian international defender made it clear that he is determined to turn the team’s fortunes around. “I’m not here to enjoy myself, I’m here to work,” stated the 47-year-old manager. “Enjoyment is the first moment, and then there’s work to be done. This is a fantastic club. I’m very focused on doing things right.”

Tudor’s focus is not limited to tactical systems; he emphasizes the importance of forming a true collective. “It’s not just about systems. It’s essential to become a team, a group that cares for each other. For me, that is fundamental. After that, quality can shine through, and for me, this is a team with quality, with legs that can run. There is potential.”

Despite reaching the group stage of the Champions League, where they finished in 4th place, the reality in the Premier League has been disastrous for Spurs. Since November, the team has won only two of their last 17 matches, accumulating six draws and nine losses. Their last league victory was on December 28, when they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, and from the last 24 points available, they have managed just four.

Tudor is clear about his confidence in Tottenham’s survival in the elite of English football. When asked about his beliefs, he emphatically replied: “100%.” The coach’s first challenge will be a home clash against long-time rivals Arsenal, who are at the top of the table. However, the situation is even more complicated due to an injury crisis affecting the team. “It’s a very rare situation,” Tudor added. “We have 10 injured players, and we are training with only 13. It’s an even greater challenge to succeed in this situation.”

The new captain’s priority is to form a cohesive and resilient team. “My first objective is for us to become a team in the true sense of the word, to suffer when necessary, to fight, to run, to have the right mentality. The beginning is always about mentality.” With a high-pressure environment and the club’s history at stake, Tudor faces a monumental task, but his determination and focus may be the key to the Spurs’ survival in the Premier League.
