Inter Milan staged an epic and electrifying clash against Como in a seven-goal match that propelled the Nerazzurri to a comfortable lead in Serie A, now with a nine-point advantage. After trailing 2-0, the defending champions mounted an impressive comeback to win 4-3, solidifying a historic streak of 11 consecutive victories in head-to-head encounters in the top Italian league.

The team led by Cristian Chivu took to the field with a clear mission to take a decisive step towards reclaiming the Scudetto, especially after Napoli’s draw against Parma in the same round. The atmosphere at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia was electric when defender Valle opened the scoring in the 36th minute, marking his first career goal in senior football. The goal came after Yann Sommer failed to fully clear a shot from Nico Paz, allowing Valle to finish with precision.

Just before halftime, Nico Paz extended Como’s lead with a stunning goal. The Argentine forward received a long pass and fired with his left foot, the ball hitting the post before beating Sommer. The advantage seemed solid for the hosts, but Inter refused to be discouraged. Marcus Thuram pulled one back for 2-1 with a first-time shot following a perfect cross from Nicolò Barella, reigniting the visitors’ hopes.

The second half brought a stunning turnaround. Just four minutes after the whistle, Thuram scored again, this time with an elegant chip shot that went over goalkeeper Jean Butez, following yet another surgical assist from Barella. Inter was back in the game, and the pressure was mounting.

At 58 minutes, Dumfries put Inter ahead for the first time in the match, successfully heading in a set-piece taken by the genius Hakan Calhanoglu. The Milan team showed a champion’s mentality, determined not to let the three points slip away. Still, Como tried to resist, with Sommer denying a dangerous free kick from Paz.

But the story was far from over. A foul by Manuel Akanji on Calhanoglu allowed Dumfries to sign his second goal, with a powerful shot that sealed Inter’s victory. Despite a consolation goal from Lucas Da Cunha, converted from the penalty spot after a foul by Ange-Yoan Bonny on Paz, Como’s efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

This victory strengthens Inter’s bid for their 21st title in Serie A, marking a strong comeback that has already resulted in 10 wins in their last 12 away matches. On the other hand, Como sees an eight-match unbeaten streak across all competitions come to an end and misses the opportunity to close in on the top four, now accumulating their sixth league defeat of the season.

With this electrifying round, Inter Milan not only demonstrates strength in the title race but also sends a clear warning to all rivals: the Italian throne is closer than ever to being reclaimed by the nerazzurri.
